I am trying to keep track of my library and this process is difficult and time consuming. I tried some options and found Barcode to PC useful. Barcode to PC is creating CSV file on PC from ISBN barcodes and uploading these files to Goodreads. I was able to create home library’s database. Barcode to PC can read QR codes as well as standard barcodes and is very successful in continuous scanning. It was able to read barcodes on different paper types and similarly colored surfaces and could easily identify barcodes.

It amazes me how simple this app is. Just works as intended with no pain in setting up. Another major bonus is it has no ads whatsoever. As with anything, there are some items which can be further improved upon, like the removal of prompt for continuous scanning, flashlight turning off. But those are very minor. I would gladly pay for this app. I would donate in a heartbeat, hit me up if you have a platform for donation of sorts.
In one word: Perfect. Quickly scans barcodes and automatically writes them into Excel (existing file, just as if you had written it yourself) and hits enter. Perfect for my Inventory Excel file. Can take longer to scan codes with more than 13 characters, but scanned a 24-digit code from a laptop fan just fine (just took longer). I’m confident this app will scan any type of barcode just fine. Thank you.
Barcode to PC has been available with a lifetime license since its launch. Sometime later this year or next year, we will switch to an annual license. We may not make another announcement before the change, so consider this your final heads-up.
What happens to existing lifetime licenses?
If you already own a lifetime license, nothing will change. Your license will continue to be honored, including future updates and support. We take pride in our customer service and will keep assisting long-time users just as we have for years.
Why the switch?
When Barcode to PC first launched, we had no idea it would gain such a strong following or that we would continuously expand its features. At the time, lifetime licenses were a common business model, and it worked well for us.
Even today, Barcode to PC is profitable, and support costs are manageable. Lifetime licenses are not inherently unsustainable. However, after years of growth, improvements, and analysis of industry trends, we believe switching to annual licenses will be more financially beneficial in the long run.
What’s Changed Since Launch?
Over the years, we have significantly improved Barcode to PC, adding many new features, fixing countless bugs, and refining the user experience. The software has gained a strong reputation, and many users suggest we should charge more.
Most professional-grade software today is sold with recurring licenses, and people are accustomed to renewing subscriptions for ongoing access. Industry data and our own testing indicate that moving to annual licenses is the right choice for the future.
When Will the Change Happen?
We’re not sure of the exact date, but it will be later this year. We may or may not announce it again before the switch, so if you want a lifetime license, now is the time to get it.

“This comprehensive barcode verification tool proves invaluable for both testing and storing barcode data. After experiencing the free version’s capabilities, upgrading to the professional license is a clear next step for enhanced functionality.
Very useful to help me check and/or save barcodes or to test new ones, I plan to buy a license which will be even more usefull:
- Accurate barcode verification
- Multiple format support
- Easy data storage system
- Real-time testing capabilities
I found a lot of professional benefits, such as batch barcode processing, advanced data export options, custom format creation and quality assurance tools.
The software excels in both testing new barcodes and maintaining a database of existing ones, making it essential for quality control and inventory management. The intuitive interface and reliable performance justify the investment in a professional license.”
Today, we’re thrilled to unveil a major upgrade to Barcode to PC.
The HTTP Output Component allows you to perform HTTP requests and fetch data from external end-points. The request is performed from the computer once a scan is received from the smartphone.
The Output Component updates the value of the matched items
It works by archiving barcodes to a CSV file (server-side) and when the same barcode is scanned twice, the server checks whether it is present in such a file, and if so a warning is shown in the app interface.
